Community Support

February 11, 2013

McElheran’s Fine Furniture was proud to partner with the Lois Hole Hospital Foundation during the month of February to help raise funds for the da Vinci Robotic Surgical System.

The Lois Hole Hospital for Women is an epicenter for women’s health in Western Canada. This “hospital within a hospital” provides ground-breaking medical procedures and state-of-the-art technology to its patients, while never losing the focus of providing compassionate patient care for women of all ages and in all stages of life. Our latest YouTube video provides an overview of this remarkable place of hope and healing.

The Royal Alexandra Hospital Foundation is fundraising for the purchase of a dedicated women’s health da Vinci Robotic Surgical System at the Lois Hole Hospital for Women. This will be the first robot specifically for women’s health in Canada.wells-davinci

The da Vinci Robotic Surgical System is a sophisticated system designed to facilitate a minimally invasive approach to surgery which can only be performed by a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon and has numerous benefits over traditional methods, including less pain, less scarring, a shorter hospital stay and a significantly reduced recovery time for patients.

Bringing a da Vinci Robotic Surgical System to the Lois Hole Hospital for Women will be of tremendous benefit to the thousands of women in Alberta who will face a diagnosis of cancer in their lifetime. The technology also represents a significant benchmark of achievement in the young life of our new women’s hospital and, in fact, will be the first surgical robot in Canada dedicated exclusively to gynecological cancers.

This is very exciting news for women in our province. But this purchase will not happen without support from donors.

It’s time for a dedicated surgical robot at the Lois Hole Hospital for Women. The women of Alberta deserve to have this treatment option and we hope your support will help make it happen.

Dream Centre 1The Edmonton Dream Centre is a long-term in-residence recovery program for women in crisis and their children; women who struggle with addiction, homelessness, and other abuses.

Since our inception in 1998, we have positively impacted over 400 families with our long-term investment in the lives of women and their children.

In order to invest, you must save first. This is the basic truth of investing. The Edmonton Dream Centre “saves” first. We bring hope to the hopeless and healing to the broken. Our recovery program is based on a holistic approach focusing on all areas of health such as spiritual, mental, emotional and physical. Changed thinking is the precursor to changed behaviour which leads to a changed community.

The Edmonton Dream Centre is changing the face of addiction, homelessness, and abuse and providing hope and dignity to those who struggle with recognizing their value; bringing hope to the hopeless.

McElherans Fine Furniture is an “invest and save” partner; with the support of their customers, they are meeting a need for the women in crisis and their children. Thank you… together we are making a difference in our neighborhoods, our community, and our city.

“Through the generosity of our customers and the delivery discount program, McElherans has been able to partner with the Edmonton Dream Centre.  Our clients receive a discount on their delivery charge in exchange for a donation of non-perishable food items which our delivery team picks up upon delivery.  These  generous donations are then passed on directly to the Edmonton Dream Centre.” – Jeff McElheran.
