McElherans Fine FurniturePurchasing a new mattress is an important decision for any individual. Where to start, what to look for and all of the different choices available, can be overwhelming, after all your mattress is where you spend almost 1/3 of your life! Therefore it is important to take into consideration what you are sleeping on and what you are breathing into your body. Have you ever really thought about what your mattress is made out of? Recently there has been a growing concern with a lot of individuals about the chemicals and toxins used to produce most mattresses, including the popular memory foam variety.

Savvy Rest mattresses are produced with 100% natural latex as oppose to the synthetic variety of foam used in other mattresses. Formaldehyde and flame retardant chemicals are among the toxic chemicals used in these synthetic varieties. Savvy Rest mattresses use 100% organic latex derived directly from the rubber tree. Nothing is mixed with this sap before it is whipped into a frothy foam and baked in molds

Savvy Rest offers 2 varieties of natural latex used in their mattresses. Dunlop and Talalay. Both types are 100% organic latex, it’s just the process used to produce them that differs. In a nutshell, Talalay is softer and has more of an angel food cake consistency, while Dunlop is firmer and more dense like pound cake. One of the most exciting features offered by Savvy Rest is the ability to customize their mattresses using different combinations of these latex cores. Layers can be customized for you and your spouse individually and the possible combinations are almost endless! The cores can also be purchased separately and swapped out in the future if your comfort needs change.

Savvy Rest also offers a great selection of organic bedding accessories, from pillows to pet beds! Their pillows come in 7 different varieties, most of which are customizable by the customer. Savvy Rest pillows come stuffed with shredded natural latex, organic wool, wool-latex blend, talalay, dunlop and kapok, which is a great down alternative. They also offer a moulded natural latex contour pillow. Their pillows come purposely over stuffed so that the customer can remove and add the filling to create the pillow best suited to their needs.

Savvy Rest also offers 3 different types of mattress toppers. They can be a great starter for those who are wanting to make a transition from their regular mattress to an organic savvy rest mattress, but perhaps are still working out what kind to go with. Thee Savvy Woolsy is filled with Organic Wool and is duvet style. The great thing about wool is its ability to keep you warm in the winter and cool in the summer. It’s great for anyone who considers themselves a “hot sleeper”. The Harmony topper is 3″ of natural latex in an organic zippered casing and when combined with the Serenity mattress creates a pillow top. Lastly there is the Vitality which is 3″ of natural Talalay and comes in a breathable organic knit casing.
